My Top Lip Balms

Winter is officially here in NYC.  It has been cold and dreary.  Which means my lips have been super chapped and peeling.  And that is not a good look.  So I rely on some amazing lip balms to heal my lips.  First up we have my old faithful Jack Black.  I have been using this lip balm for years now and have gone through countless tubes.  I keep this at my desk at work so when I feel that mid day chap coming on I lather my lips up and I am good to go for the rest of the day.  Another oldie but goodie is the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments.  Do you remember when Sephora gave these out as birthday gifts every year.  Well that is how this love affair started.  Right now I am loving the Tulip shade.  It is a soft but bright pink and is great for those no makeup, makeup days. It gives you color and moisturizes at the same time.  Now onto a few newer loves.  I had been hearing about the La Mer lip balm for awhile and could never just bit the bullet but, earlier this year I decided to treat myself. To me this is more of a luxury lip balm since it is so expensive.  I use it when I need a pick me up or I feel like being luxurious.  I absolutely love the scent of this.  It smells and tastes exactly like Orbit's Sweet Mint gum and that is my favoritest gum of all time.  A few months ago I got this Malin + Goetz lip balm in my Glossybox and ever since I have been addicted.  It has a thick texture and just glides onto the lips and sinks in.  I usually bring this out when my lips are in really bad shape.  This is usually after a full day in the cold and wind.  And my last lip balm love is from Albeit.  This is the newest addition to the family.  I saw this recently in Anthropologie and thought it was kind of similar to the By Terry Baume de Rose (still on my revolving list).  The Albeit has a slight rose scent and has a goopy texture and leaves a light pink sheen to your lips.  This has been on my bedside table and I use it every night.

What are your top lip balms ?? And what is the most you have ever payed for a lip balm ??

La Mer Lip Balm Review !

I have been loving my La Mer lip balm.  And I mean LOVING (I just sung that in my head).  When I say I have never used a lip balm as hydrating as the La Mer, believe me.  I love my Jack Black and I love my Dior but, the La Mer takes the cake.  This balm keeps my dry, cracked lips moisturized for hours on end.  Plus the smell is amazing!  I have said this before but, I hate when lip products smell bad.  I also hate when lip products taste bad.  But, the La Mer smells like Orbit sweet mint gum and tastes like candy, to me that is a huge plus.  Now the price point is a bit high ($50) for a lip balm.  If I had nice plump lips all year round I would probably pass on buying this again but, with my dry, cracked lips I foresee myself shelling out the money whenever I run out.  La Mer claims, "The Lip Balm is a luxurious and intensely reparative formula that works on contact to soften roughness, relieve discomfort and help rejuvenate seriously dry lips. A potent concentration of La Mer's nutrient-rich Miracle Broth™ renews the delicate lip area while a patented Lip Lipid Complex delivers moisture and strengthens lips' moisture barrier to help prevent further damage."  I would say there claims are so true.  So, if you are in the market for a new lip balm I would say to seriously check this out.  I know my Macy's now carries La Mer, which is very convenient and I bought mine at Blue Mercury.  This is the first product I have tried from La Mer and I have to say I may have to try more.

What is your favorite lip balm ??  Have you tried anything from La Mer ??

Weekend Buys !

I was kind of a naughty girl this weekend.   I went on a bit of a shopping binge.  I normally don't do this, but I did need some new skincare items.  Plus, I have been lusting over a Jo Malone fragrance so, I just went for it.
I am almost out of my Purity cleanser so I decided I wanted to try a new one.  I was in Sephora in Union Square (I think this is the best one in the city) and there was so many to choose from.  But, I landed on this one from Nude.  It is for oily to combination skin.  Yes, we all know I am as dry as the Sahara but, lately I have been getting a bit oily in my t-zone so I thought I would try this and see how it went.  Next I picked up the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask.  My lips have been so chapped from the cold, windy weather.  My lip balm has been helping, but I need something I can wear overnight to help them heal.  I will let you know how this works!  Than when I was standing online I saw a little package of the Caudalie Dry Oil and the Nail and Hand Cream.  I knew that the Beauty Look Book has raved about the dry oil and who doesn't need a good hand cream so I said hey why not and in the basket it went.
Then off to Blue Mercury I went.  To be honest this is a store I have never been in before.  I passed it many times but, never took the plunge and went in.  Well, I am glad I finally did.  They have a range of products from Jo Malone to Bobbi Brown to Diptyque to La Mer and a whole lot more.  While I was in there I noticed that there was only one Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede fragrance left so, I knew it had to be.  This fragrance smells so amazing.  I have never fallen so in love with a scent before.  I have been wearing it everyday since and even though is does not last all day I still love it.  And then just because I felt like it I also picked up the La Mer lip balm.  It has been on my wish list for quite some time now and was like what they heck.  Well, I am glad I said what the heck!  I may love this a bit more then my Dior (gasps)!  I know shocking right.  I may love it a bit more only because of the smell and taste.  As I have said before I love when a lip product smells good and tastes good.  And this smells like Orbit sweet mint gum, which is my favorite, and it tastes like sweet, yummy candy.  It has been on my lips everyday since I bought it.  Now the price tag on this is a bit insane but, if you don't mind then I say go for it!

My new love !

What did you pick up over the weekend ??  And do you have any of these products and love them ??
